They're forever changing so it's a great idea to pop onto the page when the odd spare bit of time crops up to see what deals you can nab! We have a wide range of tours which are perfect for solo travellers and as a general rule, our tours have no single supplement to pay. Of course, you can always pay to upgrade to a room for one person, otherwise you will be sharing with one or two other like-minded single travellers from the same gender.
So whether you're interested in spotting exotic wildlife on a Costa Rica Encompassed Tour, or you’re itching to explore India in depth, or you’d rather take a tour from Vietnam to Thailand, hitting the Cambodia highlights along the way, we have lots of tours perfect for singles holidays.
Last minute singles holidays: where to go
As with all of our tours, we take care of all the operational stuff for you! We’ll organise your accommodation, travel arrangements, breakfasts and some other meals (depending on which tour you’re on) - you just need to decide where to go! We always have some great last minute travel deals to choose from, from the adventurous Classic Colombia tour, to the mythical Transylvania Tale tour. Got a bit longer to spend? Why not do a combined tour like the Andes & Coastal Highlights where you can tick off a few different countries. Or if you’re a wildlife buff, hop on a tour from Rwanda to Masai Mara where you can track gorillas and cruise down the Nile. Either way, the choice is yours! That’s the great thing about being a single traveller!
Holidays in Costa Rica
The tropical paradise of Costa Rica is one of the most biodiverse places in the world - perfect for nature lovers! Holidays in India
India is a full of adventure, emotion, excitement and serenity. Listen to the chai wallahs morning calls as the golden sunrise peeps over the horizon in Varanasi. Drift in a houseboat along the sleepy backwaters of Kerala and gaze up in awe at the milky way on a camel safari in the desert. India is simply, magical.
Holidays in Romania
Romania is something of a fairytale. Think horse drawn carts and traditional dress. Medieval, gothic architecture and atmospheric churches amidst quaint, rural villages. Then step into the land of age-old tales and myths with a visit to Bran Castle - legend has it, this is the original location of Dracula's lair!
Holidays in Kenya
Taking its rightful place on many bucket lists, a Kenya safari is a once in a lifetime trip that would be hard to forget! Last minute singles travel tips!
Taking a last minute trip can be just as daunting as it is exhilarating! With less time to do your research, organise your documents and think through your plans, it can be a little hectic. But don’t worry! That’s the joy of going on a group tour - we’ll deal with the accommodation, travel arrangements and bookings so you can just focus on enjoying it! Here’s our top tips for last minute solo travel.
1) Get some travel insurance!
When booking a last minute travel deal, short on time, it’s easy to forget the essentials! It is compulsory to have valid travel insurance to go on our tours and the tour leaders will check that you have this in place, so make sure this is sorted before you go.
2) Learn a few key phrases
No matter where you’re travelling to, it’s always a good idea to learn a few key phrases. Even if it’s just hello, goodbye, please, thank you and how much? It will help you a great deal for those moments when you are on your own, and the locals will really appreciate the effort!
3) Pack light!
Tucan Travel tours require you to carry your own bags, so make sure you pack light! We suggest bringing a backpack. It becomes much easier hopping on and off transport and there isn’t always a lift at the accommodation.
4) Research the rules and customs
Before you travel to any new destination, it bodes well to do your research! To avoid any unwanted embarrassment or offence, learn what the local rules and customs are. For example, in India you eat with your hands, but only the right one, never the left!
5) Bring some entertainment
Being on a group tour with people you don’t know as a single traveller can be daunting so it’s always a good idea to bring some means of entertainment. A pack of cards or a small game is the perfect way to break the ice with the rest of the group!

Last minute singles holidays: FAQs
Why travel solo on a tour?
Travelling solo can be a bit intimidating but it can also be one of the most empowering things you’ll ever do. Group tours are the perfect way to get the experience of a solo holiday without having to deal with all the stress that goes along with it. All the planning is done for you, so you can just relax and have fun! Travelling solo does not have to mean being alone! You’ll be with a group of like minded people eager for adventure, providing the perfect step to get out of your comfort zone.
What is accomodation like on Tucan Travel tours?
We use a wide variety of accommodation - everything from campsites to hotels which vary from tour to tour. We chose places based on cleanliness, location, ambiance and character. Wherever possible we try to stick to locally-owned guest houses, hotels and hostels to give you the most authentic experience we can.
Will I have time to myself?
Definitely! We know that we all need a bit of ‘me time’ to do your own thing so all of our tours have enough free time built in so you can go off to have your own adventures too!
Can I upgrade to my own room?
If you would prefer not to share, you can pay a supplement to upgrade to a private room.
How do sleeping arrangements work?
There is no single supplement to pay if you’re travelling solo as you will be sharing with another, single traveller of the same gender. You can however upgrade to a room for one person if you prefer a bit of privacy.
