Costa Rica is a fairly small country and travelling from A to B can be done overland. That means travel times are reasonable and they will not put a strain on the younger members of the family, not to mention no time is wasted at airports! You can explore breath-taking national parks, relax at the beach and let your little ones discover exotic animals for the first time. Costa Rica truly is the adventure capital of Central America.

2. Peru

1. Needless to say, Peru is high on the bucket list for many travellers. The country has such a vast variety to offer in landscapes, experiences and culture that it’s impossible not to fall in love. Families often seem to think it’s not feasible to reach Machu Picchu with children. Luckily we can assure you, this is not true and you can put Peru back on your research list! If your children are in their teens then you might want to consider the one day hike to Machu Picchu. If you’re travelling with younger children, or simply like the comfort, you can always take the train to Machu Picchu – that’s right, no hiking required! Peru is a fun experience for families. Meet alpacas, learn about different local traditions and travel from the beach, through the desert and mountains to the Amazon Jungle.

3. Sri Lanka

1. Sri Lanka is a real paradise for families. The country offers a lot adventurous activities: you can discover lost cities, ancient temples, learn about Buddhism or even go on a game drive to spot wildlife at Yala National Park.
