1. Petra
Visiting the ancient city of Petra is always a highlight of a tour to Jordan. Entering the Rose City through it's towering gateway feels like you've stepped right onto a movie set. Behind the gate lies a forgotten city carved into high cliffs, dating back more than 2000 years.Feeling as small as an ant standing inside this momentous gorge is a surreal experience you won't find anywhere else. Once an essential stop on the famous Silk Road, Petra was suddenly abandoned in the 12th century and no one quite knows why. Climb to the Monastery for a heavenly view of the end of the world that will simply take your breath away. 3. Wadi Rum
Visiting the desert valley of Wadi Rum is a unique experience that you can only have in Jordan. Ride a camel across red dunes, narrow gorges and stone arches. And come nightfall, gaze up in awe as the clear night sky reveals the enchanting curve of the milky way. After an evening in the desert camp enjoying a traditional dinner grilled over ambers buried beneath the earth, wake to the glowing, sun-scorched scene as you head out for an epic, desert safari. 4. Karak
The city of Karak is a favourite stop on the way to the Dead Sea. Built by the Crusaders in the 12th century, this is one of the largest castles in the area and often one of the biggest highlights of a tour to Jordan.
5. Madaba
'The City of Mosaics' is a traditional market city, dominated by a stunning golden mosque. Madaba is peppered with crumbling Roman relics, and the town is brimming with old-age charm. Visit the Orthodox St George Cathedral which is home to the 6th century Mosaic map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. Madaba is also an excellent place to try your hand at traditional Jordanian cooking.
6. Amman

7. Jerash
The ancient city of Jerash is one of the biggest highlights of a tour to Jordan. Walk through the towering, arched gateway into a crumbling city of Greco-Roman relics. Wander the cobblestoned streets exploring ancient monuments, exotic temples and classical theatres. A must-see in Jerash is the Hippodrome which hosted chariot races during the Roman rule in Jordan. 8. Al-Maghtas
On the close border between Israel and Jordan, is a compound of digging sites and ruins, the Al-Maghtas. This is one of the most important biblical locations in the country known as the 'Baptism Site Bethany Beyond the Jordan'. Christians believe this to be the place where Jesus was baptised.
